Balon Process Management is the culmination of fourteen years of field-developed, time tested, Hospital Facilities and Safety Management operations infrastructure.
Founder Brad Balon began his healthcare career in 1994 as the Director of Facilities and Safety for Sheppard Air Force Hospital in Wichita Falls, TX. Although it had only been in existence for less than a year, the program he created there received a 97/100 in January 1995 for the then newly created Environment of Care Standards. The program was exported to several other Air Force Hospitals including Nellis Hospital in Las Vegas, NV, the Air Force Flag Ship building, where it received a perfect 100 during their 1997 survey. Based on the positive reviews from the Joint Commission Brad was asked to develop the program into a 13-day course that all Department of Defense Facilities Personnel were required to attend. Over 220 DOD personnel attended the course before Brad left the Air Force in 1997.
Since leaving the military Brad has filled many related roles, including Facility Director, Technical Support Manager, Program Manager and Consultant, each time interacting with the same issues but from a different perspective. This has allowed him to see both the big picture and the minute details at the same time. It has also allowed him to create an organization based upon the actual core needs of the end user and NOT just on whatever the regulatory body of the moment is focused on.
Along the way Brad made many observations. The most important were that:
Most organizations are not staffed to close known gaps in their infrastructure or to implement new systems
When you buy a technology you also buy the process it was designed around
Small adaptations to existing processes (or proposed new ones) or the way you use a technology (or software package) can mean the difference between success and failure
Some of the most needed tools/processes are not commercially available
Brad Balon has spent his entire professional career making custom tools and modifying the way he used commercially available ones. And now he wants to help you do the same.
